We have just learned, via our Patron Educate Together, of a change to the plans for our permanent accommodation.
The original plan was that this coming September, we would move to the current Gaelscoil Charraig Uí Leighin building. Earlier this week we were informed the move may be delayed by a number of weeks due to construction delays.
Today, it was announced that a new special school will be located on this site and we were informed it is no longer planned as the site for our permanent accommodation.
Educate Together is seeking information from the Department of Education on the new plans for our permanent accommodation as well as short-term accommodation options for the coming school year, 2021/2022.
We hope to gain clarity on this as soon as possible as we will have a new Autism Class opening in September 2021, alongside our new Junior Infants and current Senior Infants.
While we welcome the news of a new, much needed, special school for Cork, we are disappointed in the lack of forward planning that led to this situation.
As a developing school, we are left without certainty as to our future accommodation. It is vital that our families, our pupils and the entire school community know where they will be starting school in September and where the permanent home for their school will be located.
